'Urban Soft'

My final major project is inspired by Brutalist architecture; when concrete became an invaluable material. This time period brings together bold, geometric shapes, functional craftsmanship and innovative technologies to create a minimalist aesthetic. Using these key design fundamentals to inform my concept, I aim to create a high-end, modern and bespoke collection for a retreat destination interior, which follows these rules but integrates the need for more calming and comforting atmospheres.
With a focus on changing something barbarous to something full of taste and softness, I want to create a contrasting, yet intriguing aesthetic using inspiration from a combination of design styles with health and wellbeing as well as responsible production and consumption at its core.
I am interested in encouraging the use of abnormal textile materials to create a harmonising juxtaposition with an ambition to achieve a positively impacting interior design scheme.. 

Obscure Opulence 

 The Obscure Opulence collection indulges into the mysterious past, generating sophisticated artistry for luxurious, modern interiors for the future. Natural landforms and degenerating geology is empowered by eccentric prints, complimented by elegant embroideries and tactile weaves. The obscure Opulence collection encompassed harmonious lines, organic forms and seasonal shades creating an exquisite interior textile range.
This work was generated within a group of a weaver, printer and an embroiderer (myself) and designed for a set brief by Sanderson Design Group. Images shown on the right are of my work only.

'Palpable Connection Of The Everyday'

This project was inspired by chapter three of David Gauntlett's book, 'Making is Connecting'. I wanted to explore the idea of how engaging with craft through Tactilism can create connectivity between people and the environment to help improve their wellbeing. My textile samples aimed to create a sense of comfort and security within the home and allow the owner to connect with the outdoors through the sense of touch.​
